Tina Marie Vineyards is in the heart of the Green Valley sub-appellation of Russian River Valley. The vineyard's Dejon clones 115, 667 & 777 benefit from the cool evenings and warm days. The grapes develop exceptional flavors over an extended ripening season. Tina Marie is one of the most esteemed vineyards in all Sonoma County.
In 1999 life long friends Ron Black & Stephen Bessone searched through Green Valley for the perfect spot, purchased 14 acres and began planting. The vineyard was named in honor of Stephens mother, Tina Marie Bessone.
While many other wineries also source grapes from Tina Marie, Ron Black partnered with Kevin Brown to embark on creating their own wine. The inaugural 2012 vintage for Rio Crest from this esteemed vineyard was one of the easiest growing seasons in memory. Very mild harvest weather allowed for long hang time which produced outstanding expression and additional nuance. While we label the wine as Russian River Valley, it can also just as well be categorized as Sonoma Coast because the vineyard and more specifically our 2012 Tina Marie Pinot Noir has much in common with the racy, filigreed examples from the Sonoma Coast.
